2023.09.26 HDRI 60th Anniversary

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Demographic Research Institute. To celebrate this special occasion, the Institute organises a scientific conference entitled "Demography in Hungary and Europe - 60 years of the Hungarian Demographic Research Institute" on 27 September 2023. The conference will take place in Budapest, and will host international guests.  

2023.07.04 Regarding Council Decision 2022/2056

We would like to inform our European Partners that the Hungarian Demographic Research Institute is neither a public interest trust established on the basis of the Hungarian Act IX of 2021, nor an entity maintained by such a public interest trust. Thus HDRI is not affected by the Council Implementing Decision 2022/2506 and can continue to apply for and receive funding as a beneficiary. Please continue to consider cooperation with our Institute in European projects.

2023.06.05 Presentation in Prague

Katalin Kovács gave a presentation entitled „The onset of controversial communication on vaccination: influenza vaccination in Hungary” on 26 May 2023 at the  conference „Sociology of Health and Medicine in the Public Arena During the Covid-19 Pandemic and Beyond” organised by the RN16 European Sociological Association.

2023.06.01 EAPS Workshop - Cohort '18 presentation

Our head of research Zsuzsanna Veroszta gave a presentation at the Families’ Resilience and well-being of children and youth workshop organised by the European Association of Population Studies on 23 May 2023. The presentation entitled The moderating role of day-care on the impact of low socioeconomic status on socio-emotional wellbeing in early childhood was based on the joint analysis with Krisztina Kopcsó and Zsolt Spéder, using data collected in the Cohort '18 – Growing Up in Hungary study.

2023.05.04 Ageing in Europe

Our research consultant and former director of the HDRI, Zsolt Spéder will give a presentation entitled Ageing in Europe. Taking into consideration perceived old age lines in Europe on 9 May 2023 in Berlin. Dr. Spéder will also chair the session ‘Consequenes of Later Life Divorce’. The event Family Diversity in Ageing European Societies: Trends, Patterns, and Policy Challenges is organised by Population Europe.
