2022.03.08 Annual Conference of the German Society for Demography
HDRI is co-organizer of this year's Annual Conference of the German Society for Demography which takes place online between 16 – 18 March 2022. The main topic is Demographic change in Central and Eastern Europe – Demographic behaviour since 1990. Three of our researchers (Lajos Bálint, Zsuzsanna Makay and Zsolt Spéder) will present their research. Registration is open here, the program can be found here.
2022.03.01 Pregnancy in Hungary
The research Report on the First Wave of the Cohort ’18 - Growing Up In Hungary is now published online in our series Working Papers on Population, Family and Welfare. Cohort ’18 – Growing Up in Hungary is a large-scale longitudinal survey initiated by our Institute, with the objective to provide a comprehensive overview of children growing up in Hungary, and the influencing factors.
2021.12.20 The National Atlas of Hungary received prestigious recognition
The book entitled The National Atlas of Hungary, presented in Hungary in the autumn, was the best among the professional audience at the International Cartographic Association's conference in Florence. Several of our staff assisted in the project. Péter Őri, Lajos Bálint and Laura Szabó participated as co-editors and authors, whereas Zsuzsanna Makay, Judit Monostori, Lívia Murinkó and Csilla Obádovics, as well as Péter Pál Tóth contributed as authors.
The MNA project, implemented with extensive cooperation, was initiated by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and is supported by the Central Statistical Office as a strategic partner.
2021.11.22 Conference
Our director, Dr. Zsolt Spéder, is giving a presentation at the 29th International Population Conference (IPC2021) in early December, examining the relationship between childbearing intentions and macro-level conditions. One of the world’s most significant and comprehensive event on population trends will be held online this year at the Hyderabad International Convention Center, India.
2021.10.11 October conferences
At the 6th GGP User Conference, our researchers, Zsuzsanna Makay and Lívia Murinkó, gave a joint presentation entitled The life course perspective on grey divorce in Europe. A presentation with the same title will be given at DivCon2021 (19th Annual Meeting of the European Network for the Sociological and Demographic Study of Divorce) between 13th and 15th October. At the Family, Class and Inequalities in Central and Eastern Europe conference, Lívia Murinkó will give a presentation on Social inequalities in nuptiality during marriage bust and boom in Hungary in Lithuania.
